On this week's episode of 'The Walking Dead,' we take a trip to the Hilltop and Sasha makes a very big decision. Spoiler alert!
Spencer opens the gate for them. Rick meets Negan at the gate and notes that he came earlier than planned. Negan strides into Alexandria and thrusts Lucille into Rick’s hands, saying, “Hold this for me.”Rick tries to check in with Daryl, but Negan forbids Rick from speaking to him. Rick tells Negan that they already set aside half of their supplies, but Negan says he’ll be the one to decide which supplies to take.
After Tara tells Rick about the arsenal at Oceanside, they lead a group of Alexandrians to the distant community. Meanwhile, a herd of walkers makes its. The Walking Dead Recap: Not Today. What had all the makings of another snoozefest redeemed itself with surprises. This is probably the best episode since the premier because it was nicely done. Hate Jadis even more now, she’s & whole group needs to go anyway ’cause they. Michonne and Rick lie in bed, back to back. Michonne turns and gazes at Rick sleeping next to her. Michonne retrieves a hidden sniper rifle from the.
Arat, one of Negan’s soldiers, orders the group to start searching the houses. Dwight confiscates Rosita and Spencer’s guns and orders them to bring back Daryl’s motorcycle. Rosita and Spencer leave Alexandria.
In the field, Michonne aims her rifle at a distant walker. She shoots and misses numerous times. She finally kills the walker with her katana. Back in Alexandria, Saviors haul furniture out of residents’ homes. Negan inquires about Maggie’s whereabouts. Gabriel asks if Negan wants to pay his respects.
Rick says nothing. Gabriel leads Negan to tombstones in the graveyard. Negan rues Maggie’s death, saying he’d planned on asking her to join him at his compound. They hear a gunshot. In the infirmary, Carl holds David, a Savior, at gunpoint. He orders David to return some of the medicine he took. Rick begs Carl to lower his gun.
Carl finally complies after Negan threatens to harm more people. As a precaution, Negan declares that he’s confiscating all the guns in Alexandria.
Olivia takes a group of Saviors to the armory. Negan tells Rick he’ll leave their food untouched to ensure that they remain strong enough to collect for him. Negan commands Rick to thank him, but Rick refuses. Negan asks if anyone keeps guns outside of the armory.
Rick assures him that all their guns are kept in storage. Out in the woods, Rosita and Spencer find Daryl’s motorcycle where they had previously hidden it. Rosita heads into the woods as Spencer loads the motorcycle into a van. Arat informs Negan that two guns are missing from the armory. Negan threatens to kill Olivia if Rick doesn’t find the missing guns.
Rick calls a meeting with the residents of Alexandria in an attempt to locate the missing guns. Eric asks Rick how he plans to get them out of their situation with Negan. Rick emphasizes that there’s no way out; Negan is in charge. He asks if anyone has the guns. Eugene notes that some people are absent from the meeting. Rosita hunts down a group of walkers and kills them. She takes a gun from one of the corpses but it has no bullets.
Spencer tracks her down and chastises her. Rosita tells him that she’s looking for guns on the assumption that Negan will confiscate all the guns in Alexandria. While Rick, Gabriel and Aaron search Spencer’s house for the missing guns, Rick commends Gabriel on his Maggie rouse with Negan earlier at the graveyard: “It was quick thinking.
Thank you.” Rick then finds the guns stashed in the floor air vent of Spencer’s house, along with stolen food and liquor. Outside, David taunts Enid in the street.
Rick brings the missing guns to Negan. Rosita and Spencer return as Negan gathers his group at the gate. Rick sees Michonne lurking in a dilapidated house nearby, watching them. Negan permits Rick to speak with Michonne.
Rick tells Michonne that he knows about her secret rifle and target practice sessions. He urges her to hand over the rifle, arguing that more people will die if the Saviors find an Alexandrian with a gun. Rick gives Negan Michonne’s rifle; he asks if Daryl can stay in Alexandria, since they’ve followed the rules. Negan asks Daryl if he wants to stay. Daryl remains obediently silent. Dwight takes the motorcycle from Spencer and rides off. Negan refuses to leave Alexandria until Rick thanks him.
A walker approaches and Negan turns to kill it. Rick tightens his grip on Lucille as he contemplates killing Negan, but decides against it. Negan retrieves Lucille on his way out. The Saviors leave with half of the Alexandrians’ belongings, and Daryl, in tow. Rick closes the gate and privately chews out Spencer for hoarding supplies.
Spencer says they should’ve made a deal with Negan when they had the chance; he blames Rick for Glenn and Abraham’s deaths. Rick threatens to hurt Spencer if he says anything like that again. Rosita confronts Spencer about the hidden guns and asks why he didn’t mention them. Spencer explains that he hid the guns because he didn’t trust Rick. Rosita reaches into the wheel well of her car, retrieving the gun she took from the walker in the woods. Rick spreads blankets on the bedroom floor at home, mentioning that the Saviors took most of their mattresses. Michonne assures Rick that she doesn’t have any more secret guns; she reminds him that they’ve survived as long as they have because they always fight back.
Rick says there are too many Saviors - - “it’s about the numbers.” He reveals that Judith isn’t his daughter, and he learned to accept that in order to keep her alive. He tells Michonne that she has to learn to accept their situation with Negan - - they all do - - or it won’t work. Michonne says she’ll try to accept it.
Michonne returns to the rusty truck in the grassy field. She sees a wisp of smoke in the distance and goes to investigate. She finds their mattresses smoldering on the side of the road. In Alexandria, Rosita picks up an empty shell casing from the floor and pays Eugene a visit.
But in truth, the 1. Extension of a Man” was written by Edward Howard about the mental pain he saw Hathaway experiencing. The song meant so much to Hathaway that he cried upon hearing the final mix. More than 4. 0 years later, Sasha too finds catharsis in it in the Season 7 finale of “The Walking Dead.”Sasha listens to it en route with the Saviors to spill the blood of one more Alexandrian. Having caught wind of the Alexandrians making moves, he wants to kill three people as punishment, but Sasha is able to talk him down to just one casualty. She has him wrapped around her fingers, although he insists it’s not a “man- woman” thing.
The Alexandrians are prepared for the visit after Dwight’s “apparent” betrayal. He warns of Negan’s arrival and offers to set up some roadblocks to slow the Saviors down. This gives Rick and co. The Hilltop is on standby, and unbeknownst to Rick, Ezekiel and his regiment are en route to join the cause. All this preparation is for naught, however, after a capital- s Shocking twist in the form of another betrayal. Eugene leads the Saviors’ cavalry to Alexandria’s gates and makes a plea for Rick to fall back in line.
Conflicted, he asks where Negan is. Renaissance Man Full Movie. Eugene is Negan, he says. This seals his fate, or seems to, at least, as Rick gives the nod for Rosita to set off the dynamite. But it fails, and Jadis puts a gun to Rick’s head and the rest of the Scavengers follow suit.
It was her crew who tipped off the Saviors, so we can spare at least some of our ire toward Gregory, who is still a scumbag but less of a scumbag than we thought. The surprise gives Negan a chance for another one of his monologues.
He taunts Rick once again and outlines his demands: all the guns, all the lemonade, a sacrifice for Lucille, Daryl, and the pool table with all its accessories. Furthering his flair for the dramatic, he has Simon and Dwight unveil a coffin. Negan reveals that Sasha is inside and says he’ll kill her and everyone else (“probably”) if Rick doesn’t comply. Sasha’s nonlinear journey is somewhat frustrating in the episode. Most of those are still unnecessary, save for the more immediate events. As she gets into the coffin at the Sanctuary, she asks only for a glass of water. And while listening to one last song, she pops her suicide pill.
Cut back to Alexandria, where Negan opens the coffin and is attacked by Walker Sasha. Her sacrifice opens the window for the Alexandrians not held at gunpoint to begin opening fire. Still, Rick is immobilized, and so too is Michonne, by the Scavenger sniper who was supposed to be her partner in crime. Rick tries to make an even better deal with Jadis, but she’s having none of it. She pops a shot in his hip and kicks him off the platform. Then she brings him to Negan, who has Carl on his knees and surrounded by a gang of Saviors. Once again, it’s monologue time for Negan.
He outlines his fondness for Carl — “If I had a kid, I’d want him to be just like him” — but says he’s going to kill him in front of Rick, then cut off his arms. As this is happening, Michonne is in a fight for her life with the Scavenger. She’s nearly choked out when she gets a hit in, but still not safe. Rick then hears a woman’s screams from off- camera. Undeterred, and unwilling to return to his neutered self, he repeats his taunt from the Season 7 premiere, saying he will still kill him one day. In yet another twist, this one much more expected, Ezekiel and his regiment arrive just in time to spare Carl’s life and allow the war to continue. Shiva pounces on one of Negan’s henchman just as he pulls the bat behind his shoulders, ready to swing.
Ezekiel, Morgan, and Carol all come in guns blazing, with the king delivering a properly dramatic decry: “Alexandria will not fall, not on this day.”The Scavengers flee, and eventually the Saviors are run out of Alexandria. Along the way we’re treated to some awesome action shots, particularly the pairings of Ezekiel and Carol and Rick and Morgan fighting alongside each other.
The newly aligned army attempts to chase Negan and the rest of the Saviors, but a crew left behind is able to ward them off with gunfire and allow them to escape back to the Sanctuary. War is just getting started.“The First Day of the Rest of Your Life” — written by Scott M. Gimple, Angela Kang, and Matthew Negrete; and directed by Greg Nicotero — isn’t quite a perfect finale, but it’s damn fun and undeniably satisfying. My only real beef is with the gratuitous Sasha flashbacks and the indulgently sappy ending monologue from Maggie. While the Kingdom’s just- on- time arrival was to be expected, the Scavenger’s betrayal is the best twist the show has pulled off since first revealing that everyone who dies comes back as a walker. And in a show in which death has recently lost most of its power, Sasha’s death was a potent sacrifice, carrying far more weight than Glenn and Abraham’s (Michonne, though badly battered, survives, so no need to mourn two characters tonight). So was Season 7 redeemed?
I wouldn’t go that far. The show’s penchant for stalling, over- manipulating, and biting off more than it can chew can’t be erased by one explosive finale. While the back half of this season was better than the first, it still suffered from those same issues. But going into yet another summer between seasons, we won’t be left with a bad taste in our mouths this time around. Like Sasha with her earbuds, we too get a sweet release.
